The President of the European Council, António Costa, will travel to Évian, France to take part in the G7 summit from 15 to 17 June 2026.
Hosted by France as the rotating G7 presidency, the summit will bring together the leaders of the G7 countries, as well as the European Union and other invited countries to discuss pressing global issues, including international peace and security, multilateralism and the global economic outlook.
The EU will be represented by President Costa and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

During the six scheduled working sessions, leaders will address geopolitical challenges, peace and security for Ukraine and Europe, and the situation in the Middle East. International partnerships and solidarity, a more balanced economic growth and the future of artificial intelligence will also feature in the discussions.

Background
The G7 summit is a forum that plays an important role in shaping global responses to global challenges, complementing the economic coordination carried out by the G20. Besides the EU, it brings together leaders from the following countries:
- Canada
- France
- Germany
- Italy
- Japan
- the United Kingdom
- the United States
The last G7 summit was held in Kananaskis, Canada, in June 2025.
