On 9 December 2025 the President of the European Council, António Costa, will visit Ireland to meet with the Taoiseach, Micheál Martin.
The visit to Dublin is part of President Costa’s “Tour des Capitales”, to gather the views of EU leaders and to discuss the main political priorities and working methods of the European Council. During their meeting, the two leaders will focus on key topics of the next European Council meeting: support to Ukraine, the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), competitiveness and the situation in the Middle East.

A joint press statement is planned in the afternoon after the meeting (13:45 Dublin time).
Ahead of the visit to Ireland, on 8 December 2025, President Costa will travel to Paris where he will participate in the annual conference of the Jacques Delors Institute, ‘A New Energy for Europe’. The discussions will reflect on Europe’s future in areas like climate change, defence, economy, citizens’ engagement, and enlargement.
