High Representative/Vice President Josep Borrell and Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič will travel to Paris on Monday 15 April to participate in the ‘International Humanitarian Conference for Sudan and its Neighbours’, co-organised by the European Union, France and Germany. The event marks one year since the outbreak of the conflict, which has generated the largest displacement crisis worldwide.
On Monday morning, before the start of the Conference, High Representative/Vice-President Josep Borrell and Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič will hold a press conference at 9:30 CET together with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Stéphane Séjourné, German Minister for Foreign Affairs Annalena Baerbock.
High Representative Borrell and Commissioner Lenarčič will then deliver keynote speeches at 10:40 CET at the roundtable session of the conference. Both the press conference as well as the introductory remarks will be streamed live on EbS. Commissioner Lenarčič will also chair the second segment of the conference on ‘Humanitarian response and challenges in Sudan and neighbouring countries’.
Throughout the day, HR/VP Borrell will hold a series of bilateral meetings, including with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Djibouti, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf.
High Representative Borrell and Commissioner Lenarčič will also attend the closing of the Humanitarian Conference alongside the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
