Brussels, 24.01.2024 – Promote Ukraine NGO is thrilled to announce the launch of the “Ukraine Leads Network,” a platform designed to showcase civil society organisations in the EU dedicated to safeguarding and advocating for Ukraine’s interests. The Ukraine Leads Network will also serve as a bridge, connecting these organisations with potential supporters and donors.
Liza Bezvershenko, Lead of Advocacy Team at Promote Ukraine, emphasises, “Ahead of the elections to the European Parliament, it is imperative that Ukrainian civil society organisations join forces to demonstrate solidarity. At a critical juncture when support for Ukraine is under threat, Promote Ukraine is actively coordinating a network of Ukrainian NGOs through the ukraineleads.com.”
Pina Picierno, Vice-President of the European Parliament, underlines the significance of supporting Ukrainian activists in Europe, stating, “All available means should be employed to support Ukrainian activists in Europe, as they consistently advocate for Ukraine in European capitals. Their collective influence is significantly amplified through the network ‘Ukraine Leads,’ compared to individual efforts, and I hope it will keep enlarging and getting stronger. #UkraineIsEurope.”
In addition to the platform, more than 27 organisations have united to sign the Manifesto of Ukrainian Civil Society Organisations: Actions Agenda in Support of Ukraine for the European Elections 2024.
“We, Ukrainian civil society organisations based in the European Union (EU), unite to present this manifesto that reflects our collective vision, values, and aspirations. Our mission is to advocate for the victory of Ukraine, sustainable peace with security guarantees for Ukraine, and Ukraine’s role in the EU – which we consider essential for upholding democracy, security, human rights, and prosperity on the European continent. We believe that Ukraine can contribute significantly to a stronger, more inclusive, and peaceful Europe. Our manifesto outlines the principles and priorities that we firmly believe resonate with millions of individuals across the EU.”
Georges Dallemagne, Belgian MP, Head of the Belgium-Ukraine Friendship Group, “I fully support the manifesto of Ukrainian Civil Society organisations. It is a strong, all-round and exciting agenda towards integrating Ukraine into the EU, reinforcing democracy, solidarity, the rule of law and security in Europe. I will be with them!”
Marta Barandiy, President of Promote Ukraine, notes the importance of unity, “We call on the heads of all political parties presenting their candidates for European and national elections to include Ukraine in their programs!”
