Ahead of the UN Climate Conference (COP28) taking place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) will launch the eighth edition of its Adaptation Gap Report during a virtual press conference on 2 November at 1:00pm EAT/ 11:00am CET/ 6:00am EST.

The UNEP Adaptation Gap Report series provides an annual, science-based assessment of the global progress on adaptation planning, financing, and implementation. It also explores options for enhancing and advancing national and global adaptation efforts, and provides in-depth analysis of selected issues of interest. Adaptation Gap Report 2023: Underfinanced. Underprepared – Inadequate investment and planning on climate adaptation leaves world exposed will provide a more thorough assessment and revised estimates of adaptation finance gaps, and also takes a deep dive into loss and damage.

UNEP has produced the Adaptation Gap Report since 2014, with the aim of informing climate discussions and policy among UN Member States. While it remains an independent assessment, the objective of the AGR is closely aligned with that of the UNFCCC Global Stocktake.
